Merchants would unpack the soap for display and then throw away the soapbox itself in the alley. Periodically, a passerby with public speaking on his mind would pick up a discarded soapbox and use it to elevate himself above a crowd of people as he spoke from his heart about a particular passion of his. This practice of standing on an actual soapbox while speaking at length on a controversial topic eventually inspired a more metaphorical use of the term "getting on one's soapbox".
With that said, the "soapbox" of lávame clean is clear: We are on a mission to help children and their families locally and globally experience the physical and necessary benefits of all-natural, disease fighting bars of soap.
This is the primary reason lávame clean came to be and the catalyst behind our passion for this business.
It is proven that water alone is not enough to combat illness, germs or insects. We believe a
hand-made bar of all-natural soap given in love can assist in eliminating health hazards and give a glimpse of hope and refreshment for a weary soul.
Therefore, we are committed to giving one bar of soap on your behalf to people in the slums of Colombia, South America, as well as homeless camps and impoverished villages locally and globally. These donations are at no extra cost to you, but will be delivered because of you. If you buy one bar of soap, lávame clean will donate one bar. If you purchase ten bars, we will donate ten bars. It's that simple. Shipments of donated soaps have already been delivered to Colombia, Nicaragua, Ukraine, and in our own back yard for the homeless population in Tidewater. More deliveries will follow.
The specific types of bars donated to those in need will greatly assist in fighting bacteria, germs and insects. The bars of soap you donate will consist of many different types. Our donated citronella bar will assist in deterring disease-carrying mosquitoes and other amazon insects. The tea tree soap bar will aid in the prevention of lice and mange. The baby cake bar will be beneficial to mothers of babies and small children for treating their topical skin disorders such as eczema and diaper rash.
